Carlsbad, Calif. - The Leucadia Wastewater District (LWD) Vice President Donald Omsted recently received the Special District Governance certification from the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF) at the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA) Mid-Year Conference in Palm Springs on January 14, 2010.

Receive Recognition inSpecial District Governance Award
Carlsbad, Calif. - Leucadia Wastewater District President Elaine Sullivan, Vice President David Kulchin, Director Allan Juliussen, and Director Judy Hanson each received Special District Governance certification from the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF). To receive this certification, Board members completed four courses provided by the SDLF Governance Academy and a minimum of ten hours of continuing education.
Lateral Grant Program for Homeowners
Carlsbad, Calif. - Leucadia Wastewater District Board of Directors recently adopted a private lateral repair reimbursement policy, which allows homeowners who reside in the District to receive a partial reimbursement for costs of repairing their sewer lateral.

Leucadia Wastewater District Wins Statewide Achievement Award
Carlsbad, Calif. - The California Association of Sanitation Agencies honored the Leucadia Wastewater District with its Innovative Technology Award on August 21st at the association’s annual conference in Monterey, CA. The award recognized the District’s recently adopted Asset Management Master Plan. President Elaine Sullivan stated that the Plan establishes an innovative program to evaluate and replace underground pipelines and pump station infrastructure before it fails.
